About Neskaya.Net and its Webmaster
Neskaya.Net launched on April 17th, 2008; that's right, the site's still a baby, but it's my baby! :] I go by Strawbee and way, way back in the day, I used to own the domain
tifa.net. Then I quit the web design scene for a few years and came back with Neskaya. Neskaya is actually a sort of a continuation of my old graphics site,
ere-serene.org. That was
way back though, maybe 2003-2005 or so.
The name has no particular meaning; I just think it's a unique and beautiful word. I do realize that there's a book by Marion Zimmer Bradley with Neskaya in the name, but I've never read it and this is unrelated. This site is pretty much an outlet for my creative efforts and hobbies. As you can tell, I love cute things, and I like making pretty graphics, so viola. n_n You can find graphics, layouts, tutorials, quizzes, and maybe even an upcoming blog here~ However, that's all Neskaya is - a hobby and a site that I keep up for fun, when I have the time. I have no aspirations to become a professional web designer, as fun as that job would be. I'm actually a law student!
Neskaya is registered at
Namecheap and hosted at
Calindora, which I greatly recommend. Take some time to look around and hope you like it!
About this Layout: Version 4.0
This is version four of Neskaya.Net. I had a vision in my head of what I wanted this to look like, but I was having a hard time translating it onto the screen. And this... well, it looks
nothing like my vision, but I improvised a bit and I think this will do! I promise to make more downloadable layouts now instead of just redesigning the site. xD
The images used in this layout are from
SmileScan. Hopefully the monkey covering some of the text here isn't too annoying, but if it is I'll get around to changing it sometime... maybe. I did want to make this a flash design, but I'm on Christmas break right now and I realized that I only have Flash CS3 on my computer at college. Oops. :3 The bad thing about this design is that I undid a lot of my work in the last layout of making the whole site 100% xHTML valid; my coding is a mess here, but that's okay! As nice as following standards is, it just wasn't worth the effort and massive amount of time that I don't have for me, especially if it all looks the same on the page. To those like me, I'm going to direct you to this site:
Give Up and Use Tables. Haha, sorry to all you gung-ho designers out there; hope you're not cringing too much!
While I'm talking about this, I'd like to say that those of you who use Internet Explorer need to stop, please. I design my layouts in Firefox and then every time after I finish designing it, I have to spend hours getting it to look presentable in IE. ;-; It's quite sad, really. I forgot that IE people can't see transparent PNGs with alpha channel transparency right and had to spend ages fixing all my images, haha. Besides, adblock? How cool is that? :D Firefox is great, and I'm very displeased that
1/3 of my visitors still use IE :3
But if you really want to use IE, please upgrade to IE7. Please. I can only test my designs in IE7, so I don't know if they're screwy in older versions. @.@;
